- Schloss Mittersill - housed once "The world’s most elitist society club." Founded in 1935 by bon vivant and charter member of the international jet set, Hubert Baron von Pantz. Mittersill Castle experienced a very glamorous period from 1935-67 under the leadership of Baron Hubert von Pantz. Notable guests during this period include Dutch Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard, the Shah of Persia, Clark Gable, Henry Ford, Bob Hope and Aristotle Onassis. Closed during the war and reopened again in 1953 with Prince Alex Hohenlohe as the new resident partner. American millionaires mixed here with the more outgoing members of European aristocracy - the same Hohenlohes, Bismarcks and Bourbon Parmas who might later be found at the Marbella Club. In 1967, Mittersill Castle was purchased by means of several donations, in order to be used as a centre for Christian student conferences by the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students and other Christian groups. In 2009, the Castle was bought by two local families and now functions as an international luxury hotel with gourmet cuisine, spa and golf course.
